Disk Yao and Nelly Ng lived out their fantasy of fairy tales with a pre-wedding shoot that featured luscious blooms, delish sweet treats, and a retro vespa.
The inspiration for the theme: Nelly’s love for fairy tales and anything magical, “I’ve always imagined myself as a fairy living in a magical land filled with nature and flowers. A mortal man enters my world, catches my attention and we fall in love. Like a knight on his steed, he sweeps me off my feet on his cute Vespa and we elope to his world to get married.”
An avid crafter since she was little, Nelly first found her love for flowers when helping a friend with DIY wedding floral arrangements. She went on to take lessons on floral artistry and founded her own wedding planning company, From Day Till Night, not long after.
The wedding stylist’s love for flowers was evident at the shoot with the various sets — from the swing to the table — brimming with a variety of luscious blooms. The flowers chosen for the shoot weren’t the usual fare of soft pinks and whites. Instead, Nelly went with vibrant reds, various shades of bold pinks with dashes of dark blue. Even the garden inspired dessert feast of cupcakes and naked cake were infused with floral decorations. “Mother Nature was generous as she gave us huge blooms of peonies (which are seasonal), textured garden roses, exotic looking two-toned rose sprays, herbaceous astrantia and more,” she adds.
Disk, who has a soft spot for all things retro, had to include his adorable Vespa which was his first motorcycle. For the shoot, he spruced up the ride with a new coat of ivory. Prior to the shoot, the couple spent many weekends scouting for undisturbed green locations. They finally decided on an open field opposite Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve with low branches and a random road along Lim Chu Kang.
Note:
Shortly after this shoot last December, the couple got into a traffic accident. Disk had witnessed a bus hit his fiancee, trapping her underneath it. He thought he’d lost the love of his life, but thankfully, Nelly escaped with a broken leg and misaligned spine (Disk suffered only minor abrasions). Nelly recalls the first thing she asked the orthopaedic surgeon, “Will I be able to walk down the aisle in May on my own without help?”
We’re glad to know that Nelly recovered and the couple tied the knot as planned in an intimate al freso wedding, and the bride walked down the aisle without crutches!
We love a happy ending and the Style:Weddings team wishes the couple all the love and happiness in the world! Congratulations!
