Rustic and Industrial Christmas-Themed Styled Shoot
– POSTED ON WEDNESDAY, 03 JANUARY 2018
Having just celebrated Christmas, what styled shoot could possibly be more appropriate to share than this one? Captured by Hong Ray Photography with gowns from Bqueens, styling by From Day Till Night, and Cynderella Makeup and Hair, this styled Singapore pre-wedding photo shoot set in the former Pasir Panjang Power Station (a hidden historic building built in 1953) is a unique take on a Christmas theme.
A few words from the vendors…
“The photographer, Hong Ray, discovered a long and forgotten power station, a hidden gem from the bustling city. Built in 1953, the venue puts a spotlight on vintage and rustic. With Christmas just around the corner, we decided on a rustic-themed festive shoot with modern touches. White symbolizes the purity of the couple’s union, while red is not only in sync with the festive feel but also highlights the couple’s romance and passion for life.
Andrew and Gillian were JC classmates but it wasn’t love at first sight. Fast-forward ten years and a chance work opportunity resulted in them bumping into one another, and the rest is history. Being adventurous, the couple was game to take on an out-of-the-ordinary photoshoot.
Nelly, the florist and stylist of From Day Till Night, got her hands on Snow Queen Protea to use as the main flower of the hand bouquet. Together with a myriad of other flowers like two-toned Rose spray, snow-sprayed Eryngium and more, a unique bouquet of the season was crafted specially for the bride-to-be.
For the bride’s hair and makeup, makeup artist Cynthia Oh from Cynderella Makeup and Hair gave Gillian a beautiful look with classic Christmas colours – golden bronzey eyes with red lips to complement Gillian’s features. Cynthia also created two hairdo looks. The first was an effortless tousled up-do adorned with fresh flowers in burgundy hues. For the second hairdo, Cynthia let Gillian’s hair down with extensions for a full-bodied, natural, wavy look to complement her Singapore Girl outfit.
For the last few photos, Hong Ray – with his background in electronic engineering – wanted to go a step further than having hand-held sparklers. Typically, similar shots are done with someone running around in the background with fairy lights. However for this shoot, Hong Ray used a custom-built remote-controlled car with lighting and sparklers and let it drift around the venue at high speed.”
Thank you for sharing these lovely photos with us, Hong Ray!
