1. Dedicated full time studio photographer

Your portrait is photographed by a full time studio photographer, not a part time operator or print shop assistant.
Lighting, posing, and expression are carefully guided on set to achieve a professional result that cannot be replicated by DIY setups or mobile phones.

2. Guided posing with multiple angles and expressions

Multiple shots are taken with different angles, postures, and facial expressions so you have a good range to choose from.
No prior experience with posing is required. Clear and patient direction is given throughout the session to help you look confident and natural.

3. Careful retouching while preserving realism

Minor refinements such as uneven facial features, skin issues like pimples, rashes, scars, dark eye circles, or marks from training can be gently reduced during editing.
The goal is to help you look your best while keeping the portrait natural, recognisable, and respectful.

4. Convenient online photo selection

Within the same day after the shoot, you will receive a private online gallery to view all the photos and select your preferred images for editing.
You can take your time to choose over a few days, from home or camp, without needing to return to the studio.

5. Direct experience as an SAF Film Unit instructor

The photographer, Hong Ray, serves as an instructor with the SAF Film Unit during reservist and is involved in training NSFs in photography and visual documentation.
This background provides a strong understanding of military standards, uniform presentation, and how to portray servicemen with accuracy and respect.

6. Contemporary finishing with respect for authenticity

Where appropriate, modern post production techniques may be used to refine backgrounds, remove visual distractions, or enhance the final presentation.
All adjustments are done with care to preserve realism, uniform accuracy, and respectful representation. The intent is not to change who you are, but to present your portrait at its best.

7. Satisfaction and compliance assurance

All NS portraits are produced with an understanding of SAF presentation standards and common unit photo requirements.
In the rare event that a unit or camp requests adjustments due to official photo requirements, the necessary amendments will be made to the image at no additional cost.
The intent is to ensure your portrait is appropriate, compliant, and confidently submitted, while remaining something meaningful to keep beyond National Service.
